From President Jackson’s farewell address:
It is well known that there have always been those amongst us who wish to enlarge the powers of the General Government, and experience would seem to indicate that there is a tendency on the part of this Government to overstep the boundaries marked out for it by the Constitution. …There is, perhaps, no one of the powers conferred on the Federal Government so liable to abuse as the taxing power. …Congress has no right under the Constitution to take money from the people unless it is required to execute some one of the specific powers intrusted to the Government; and if they raise more than is necessary for such purposes, it is an abuse of the power of taxation, and unjust and oppressive. …Plain as these principles appear to be, you will yet find there is a constant effort to induce the General Government to go beyond the limits of its taxing power and to impose unnecessary burdens upon the people. …There is but one safe rule, and that is to confine the General Government rigidly within the sphere of its appropriate duties. It has no power to raise a revenue or impose taxes except for the purposes enumerated in the Constitution, and if its income is found to exceed these wants it should be forthwith reduced and the burden of the people so far lightened.

Comment by Tumbleweed Steve on November 18, 2011 at 6:42pm Delilah...maybe the Akron group just doesn't have anyone all up on the ETF movement. A lot of new folks there that may not fully understand the event or the effort we are participating in here. I mentioned it at the meeting the other night though, just they were aware of the intentions. Don't know what ever happened to Rick. A lot of people are doing all they can to keep their head above water because of the FED and the economy they have forced us into.
Russ. I can pick you up and give you a ride. Not sure where exactly you are located. But you can shoot me an e-mail and give me an idea. As far as I know I am going alone. But even if the better half decides to go, we can make room. I will be taking the Ron Paul truck. So just let me know. You are too far out of the way from what I gather.
Sorry i've been so uninvolved here lately. Finally i'll try to solve that problem a little, and respond to some of the latest posts - THIS REALLY SOUNDS NUTS, that anybody who's only 50 miles away should have so much of a problem geting to such an important thing! Isn't there anybody in this group that can figure a way to help? ....maybe this will only sound like a brag but i don't care if it does if only it might provide a little INSPIRATION. Back when we had the R3volution March in 08, i knew it would be better if i didn't try to go because of my bloodsugarinsanity and the problems that sort of trip would cause for me, so i offered the transportation i was able to give to anybody who needed a way to get to the bus. As old Mr. Phate (or maybe it was Lady Luck : ) had it, one person did take me up on my offer. As it ended up, i drove my old Geo about 200 miles that nite, at speds it really wasn't used to and on the way, with some of the little problems the adventure entailed, i kept thinking it was like scenes from some comedy movie, but we finally got there on time and i was really glad i was able to make Ron Paul's March one person stronger. NOBOdy wins a revolution without actually making a few sacrifices. If we want a revolution (or hopefully a R3VOLUTION instead - which is a revolution without the blood and the sights of internal body parts involved) we are going to have to CAUSE it. ....now isn't there ANYBODY who can sacrifice a little of their time and/or resources to make this event one person stronger? Actually, while i'm here - if anybodyelse might be heading to EndtheFed from out east, i sure hope i might be able to get a ride from the Chardon/ Middlefield/ Chesterland area? I'm not really even 100% sure i'll get there without some help. (next subject) Wow - i hope everybody is paying attention to all the tools being created for us to do a little mind manipulation of the GOOD kind; especially that "Reality Check, What's so wrong with Ron Paul"! It's EXCELLENT. But, is it on youtube? can somebody PUT it on youtube, so it might be easier to get people who WOULDN'T go to Dailipaul, to watch it? (really i supose it might be on youtube allready but i just don't know yet) One other thing - it's a good thing that Dr. Paul has talked a little about the Stock Act (that would make it illegal for Congresspeople to take financial advantage of all their inside information). The little bit i heard was that he thinks we should just elect more ethical people to Congress so that we wouldn't need the Stock Act. But it might be even better if we could get him to keep talking about that more, and mabe even start cosponcoring (or whatever) the Sock Act. I think the importance of the issue has been way underappreciated so far.
Comment by Delilah Ortiz on November 18, 2011 at 7:55am Steve, I just called the Akron Metro Bus and got the schedules going to Cleveland and coming back and it's super early in the morning. If anybody else is having a hard time getting transportation, I would definitely like to meet others at the bus stop going to and coming from Cleveland. I'm not sure what else to do. Getting there is alot harder than coming back due to the irregular schedule. It's the X60 bus going from Akron to Cleveland in case anybody else is interested. Fare is $5 FRN each way per person and it leaves at 5:55am and 6:30am and that's it for the morning at the blue parking lot across the street from Taylor Memorial Library and coming back I can catch it on E 9th Street at 4:50pm or 5:50pm and that's the last one for the day. Too bad nobody from my area has responded so far.

Comment by Delilah Ortiz on November 17, 2011 at 7:49pm Steve, this is the 2nd time that I've posted help on transportation to Tuesday's ETF and I'm still waiting. Anybody heard from Rachael or anybody else. How about Rick Gower?! I'm in the Akron/Cuyahoga Falls and I've also posted on the group list. Hoping to hear something asap. Thanks!
