FED UNDER FIRE

Today, a friend rang me and told me his wife had received a letter from a securities firm, where they apparently have an "account". The letter suggested that they divest themselves of liquid "cash assets" and purchase foreign currencies. Of course, a laundry list of available currencies was generously offered. These mixed bag of IMF currencies, of course, are no different than the FRN's, nothing backing them either. Just another coat of paint. Seems the wheels are beginning to roll. With Obama's enhanced Fed partnership coming into play, Harry Schultz' notion of an FDR-esque bankster holiday 'coming to a theatre near you' just gets more credible each day.

Fed hasn't gotten their sweeping new powers YET. This is simply what the great minds of our new President's team have come up with, with his gold star endorsement. A man for change indeed. Now, we can either sit on the sidelines while this turns into legislation that surreptitiously slinks it's way through the House and Senate completely under the radar (how else would they do it?), OR, we keep an eye out and raise the same kind of hell w/ our servant Congress and Senate, just like HR 1207 / 833.

Competing currencies FTW! Now that the Fed has been given this new sweeping dictatorship over our entire economy our (conceptual) free market has been further diminished.

As the people step it up, the government steps it up in handing the FED more power?

Shame on Obama, NOT a man of the people as he claims, but of the bankers!

Btw, Rob, I'd like a copy of Capital Crimes, how do I contact you off-line?

I agree, I would like to see competing currencies as well. We could have Silver & Gold, foreign or domestic coins, like the early days of America and whatever other forms of currency that the people will accept as payment for their goods and services, a True Free Market!

Good point! Lincoln's 'greenbacks' would be such an example. These were issued during the Civil War, but kept in circulation for many years after, and were quite popular with the people. Even though issued by the Treasury, these had nothing to do w/ any private central bank, so, were not liked by the 'money changers'.
