For this movement to gain mass attention, we need to build an army capable of garnering 500,000 Michigander signatures in late 2009 / early 2010 in order to qualify for the 2010 November election. Having a list of over 20,000 members - and growing daily, we are now focusing on developing computer-using members for reasons discussed below.

To recap: Act by "joining our army", as an interested Michigander. You'll receive an immediate confirmation email. Within a day, you'll receive our formal welcoming / orientating email which will also provide you with a link to our Community Leadership Wiki, where you can volunteer for leadership, or simply provide support in defined Functional Areas support.

Together, you and I will restore a tax system that serves Michigan's workers and businesses, instead of serving politicians and lobbyists !

At 9:02pm on January 6, 2009, Daar Fisher said…: Hi Chad, I'm the state Internal Communication Director for the Michigan FairTax Assn which works "hand in glove" with the goal of End The Fed because by REPLACING the Michigan income tax, MI families and businesses will have more disposable monthly income to donate to ETF, more time to help enact the national FairTax to end compelled, confiscatory tax the Fed relies on for interest payments.

How will passage of a MI FairTax do this? It will REPLACE the income tax and current sales tax, with a consumption tax (sales tax at point of retail sale). This means that no more state tax will be withheld from Michigan wage-earners' paychecks. What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size. This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending.

Under the FairTax plan, points of collection are reduced to retailers many of whom are already collecting sales tax. Because service providers must account for income tax withholding and compliance costs, their prices carry a hidden tax which will become visible under the MI FairTax. (The MI FairTax EXCLUDES business-to-business purchases as this would, again, hide the cost of taxation in prices.)

Because of the prebate to ALL Michigan-resident households, the MI FairTax rate would effectively be 0% on all monthly family spending to the poverty level; thereafter it's 9.75%. The average effective rate will be around 5.5% (see p.2 of pdf brochure).

Scroll down to where you can mes with the coloring and there will be a box for back groud picture. Up load a picture through that and it will become you header background picture. Its's better to search for what type of picture you want in a wallpaper form so it streches accross the whole page, as you can see mine doesnt do that but it still looked ok.
