We gathered in front of the L.A. office of the Federal Reserve at about noon and made signs. Our little gang of 15 End the Feders got quite a few honks and shouts as we marched towards the City Hall and Occupy Los Angeles.
As we approached we hooked up with more End the Fed people and we rolled into the plaza in front of City Hall which was covered with the tents of the Occupistas. We chanted "End the Fed, Jail the Bankers!" and got lots of smiles and shouts and applause.
We soon ran into others wearing ETF shirts or carrying signs and started to have friendly conversations with other people. We found out that a bunch of our people were on the other side of City Hall, so we gathered our troops and marched over there with some good ETF chanting along the way. We carried the energy into the area at the base of the steps of City Hall and launched into an End the Fed teach-in.
The day before Nick and Ben and some of the other lads had been playing a game of "Ask the Capitalist" with the crowd. They said it was a lot of fun and a positive exchange until they got shut down by the organizers. I was going to find out what they meant a bit later.
We quick rally and started to teach about the Fed. We each made some points and then we started a game of Ask the Capitalists. We took some good questions and overall people were receptive to what we had to say. It wasn't easy since we had to deal with a lot of mental resistance, but we really were able to help people to see our point that the Fed is the problem, not capitalism in general. Many people were very supportive..
Overall, the overwhelming majority of those in attendance were very receptive and actually interested to know more about the Fed and the general freedom message. It was a very productive day and I recommend that anyone who wants to have an impact should go down to OLA and just talk to people.
Some liberty activists are starting a Liberty Encampment and a Free Speech Zone at OLA. There are no set times for activities but we expect to open the Free Speech Zone sometime in the afternoon around 1 or 2 PM on Sunday.
This is ongoing. You can go down and spread the message of Freedom anytime, any day of the week. You can connect with the folks at the Liberty Encampment and see what's up.
Every Saturday we will gather at the Federal Reserve at 12 PM, make signs, march to OLA and host an End the Fed teach-in at the Free Speech Zone at 2 PM.
On Tuesday, November 22nd (End the Fed Day), we will gather at OLA and then lead a march to the Federal Reserve Building, have a rally and then march back to OLA. We hope that many OLA folks will join us in targeting the real source of our troubles.
ABOUT THE LIBERTY ENCAMPMENT:
Liberty activists including members of End the Fed, Oathkeepers, We Are Change and others have started a Liberty Encampment at Occupy Los Angeles. Let's help them grow an ongoing Liberty presence and spread the message. You can join them by pitching a tent with them or you can bring them food, water and other supplies. We can make an absolutely HUGE difference by being present at this social phenomenon and engaging people in a positive exchange of ideas. Our experience today was TREMENDOUS and there is absolutely no doubt that we made a big impact by being there. If you want to get involved in the Liberty Encampment, call Chris Ogle at 949-259-3065
